The top two meet in the league both with 100% records on a perfect day for football.

This is always a good test against Letchworth we asked the boys to work hard when we did not have the ball and to make sure we supported Rhys who was playing up top on his own and we wanted them to show real desire all over the pitch.

Not the best of starts when Richard only lasted two minutes with a muscle strain but we coped well as both teams seemed more content with not making mistakes rather than stamping their authority on the game. No real chances were made until the twenty fifth minute when a fierce shot by one of the Letchworth players was superbly saved by Robbie. The game was being played out in midfield and it was no surprise when the ref blow his whistle for half time and it was goalless.

We asked the boys to not panic on the ball as all to often we were just hitting it long without taking a touch, we were again poor at our own throw ins and we just wanted them to relax, their battling qualities can never be questioned but we needed quality on the ball as well.

A poor start to the second half we did not react in midfield then did not close down quick enough when the ball went out wide and when the cross came in there was a free header and we were 1-0 down and to make matters worse AJ also had to come off injured. Five minutes later two down a hopeful ball into our box was not dealt with properly and we conceded from it. We now had a mountain to climb but we pushed more players forward and started to cause them problems then came the turning point in the match some good interchange football ended with Ross finding the back of the net but our joy was short lived as the linesman had his flag up for off side. Letchworth sealed our fate five minutes later when we allowed one of their players too much time and he found the back of our net. We still created some chances late on when Letchworth were reduced to ten men but all to know avail and when the ref blew for full time it was Letchworth who were worthy winners.

Individual errors cost us dearly today but we must not get too down football teaches you some harsh lessons and we must make sure we learn from them. This group always give it 100% effort but today was not our day so we look forward to next week to put it right.
