A crisp morning it was fresh but not cold we welcomed Stotfold to Roysia who were sitting half way in the table and were a team who have had a real mixed bag of results.

We had to change the team from last week Callum was out injured and Rhys and Ben were away but we did welcome back the four boys who missed last week, we just asked for the same as last week and that we had to keep our wide players wide because the pitch at roysia is not very wide so we had to make the pitch as wide as we could.

We started well and were on the front foot from the start we seemed Sharpe and eager and we had a good tempo about our play and carved out an early chance which Bradley failed to convert. The next chance fell to Stotfold when a mix up at the back allowed there nippy forward a run on goal but he took a heavy touch and that allowed Robbie to come off his line and make a smart save. We continued to push forward and there full back was put under pressure from Ross and conceded a corner. James R as he so often does put over a delightful corner which was meet by AJ and his header found the back of the net. I thought we would build on this but we started to get bogged down and the match was played largely in midfield although both Ross and Bradley had chances to extend our lead which they failed to convert. The half came to an end with a slender 1-0 lead in our favour.

We seemed a little flat and seemed to be waiting for something to happen instead of making it happen and we needed to relax more on the ball and play as we know they can because at the moment we were the shadow of the team that played so well last week. We made a change James B came on for Ross.

We came out in all honesty no better than the first half we just could not get a grip on the game although James B was lively and was causing Stosfold some problems. As with the first half we had most of the ball but at 1-0 you are never comfortable, As we looked for number two both Bradley and James B hit the post and we started to fill that it might be one of those days. We did finally get that all important second goal when with ten minutes left when Matt took a quick throw and Sam turned his marker before finishing cooly. We now looked a different team and that second goal settled us down.

Number three soon followed and it was a contender for goal of the season we often talk about desire and this was exactly what this goal was all about Eamon won a tackle in his own half and as the ball broke he then not once or twice but three times won tackles he had know right to win before hitting a shot from just out side the box that found the corner of the net which saw both sets of supporters applaud a truly special goal. We still had time for Jack o to hit the post as we finally started to play as we know they can.

The whistle went with us 3-0 winners.

We won ugly today which sometimes you have to do for large parts of the game today we just did not perform to the standard we and the boys expect you do get days like to day and you just have to dig in which is what they did, this performance was not down to lack of effort we were just below par, I know the boys will be determine to put that right next week.
