Buntingford Cougars v Royston Town Youth Colts

Royston Crow Youth Football League U16 Division 1

Won 0-9

Royston Scorers

Jacob 2, Jordan 2, Matt, Jake, Micael, Mitchell, Conor

Royston simply gave one of their best footballing performances of the season to completely over run Cougars. To be fair to the hosts they never gave up but caught their opponents in top form and in the end the score line could have been more emphatic.
The quality of fast football play by the team would have beaten most teams and remarkably it continued for the entirety of the game.
Matt scored a seventh minute opener looping in a header from Ryan's cross and this lead was doubled by Micael who cut in from the left and scored from a narrow angle. The hosts continued to press but didn't increase the lead until five minutes before half time but scored three in quick succession. Jake scored goal number three crashing home Owen's cross from close range and Jacob beat the offside trap to angle in a fierce 12 yard strike into the corner soon after.
Just before half time a half cleared free kick was thumped into the net by Mitchell from ten yards giving the keeper no chance.
The dominance continued in the second half with Jordan scoring goals six and seven with calm finishes after supreme team movement of the ball created the opportunities. Goalkeeper Conor then entered the fray with his first of the season from the penalty spot after Micael's shot had been handled in the area.
From a spilled corner Jacob hooked the loose ball into the top corner from close range for the ninth and final goal in the last minute to complete an enjoyable spectacle from the Young Crows before they play their cup final game versus Sawbridgeworth Town on the same pitch on Sunday.
