This was another tight home game for Celtic and in the end the scoreline was probably a true reflection of the game.
The first half saw Celtic have more of the possession but they did not create any clear cut chances until the 29th minute. Then after an inspired substitution by manager Paul Edwards, Ben F used his pace to score from a through ball with almost his first touch. The visitors hit back with a succession of corners which the home side managed to defend successfully despite at least one goalmouth melee.
In the second half, with man-of-the-match Troy putting in a trademark terrier-like performance, Celtic created more chances and the Fairlands keeper made a good save from a Ben R header that looked on it's way into the net. At the other end, brother Sam R was also kept busy and made some good stops before being given no chance by a close range shot from a cross in the 62nd minute.
There was controversy towards the end of the game when, with either side looking capable of winning the game a Fairlands attack ended with the ball being put into the Celtic net with the referee partially unsighted. Fortunately the eagle-eyed linesman had his flag up before the ball entered the net and he was able to confirm the handball that helped the Fairlands forward control the ball before shooting.
