The under 16s progressed to the second round of the league cup with a resounding victory against division two opposition. The young Crows played a good game throughout with good passing and movement for long periods. From the start Royston attacked and had the game sewn up by half time with a five goal lead, creating an abundance of chances as well as the goals.

Jacob Leighton led the front line well with a first half hat trick, all three of his goals breaking clear of the Baldock defence and finishing one on one situations. This was after Owen Bentley had given his side the lead with a 20 yard left footed strike into the corner and Ollie Wheeler had doubled that lead from close range after a long throw had not been cleared.

The dominace continued in the second half with Jordan Hall scoring two fine individual goals with angled shots into the net. Louis Townsend diverted Mitchell Woodings long range shot past the keeper's dive for goal number eight and Ryan O'Mahony scored a first of the season for himself with Royston's last goal, converting Jordan Hall's corner.

Baldock battled well throughout but caught Royston on a good day. Their perseverance was rewarded with two second half goals both from good approach play but Royston will go to Dunton in round two in the near future.
