This emerging under 16 side rocketed their season further forward with a solid win in this semi final game and gaining a much deserved cup final place for their season efforts to date.

Despite being a division below Royston the Hormead side deserve great credit for their efforts and fought to the very end but like so many times this season the wave of attacking options and pace in Royston's game was too much for their challenge.

The home side eased their way into the game but any chances created were either hit straight at the keeper or just missed the target. The opening goal came on 25 minutes when Jacob Leighton headed in a near post corner. This added another 2 gears to Royston's game and they hit another quick three goal burst before half time. Matt Bennan superbly headed in Owen Bentley's cross and then struck a thried under the keeper's unsighted dive. Jordan Hall completed first half scoring with another close range header.

Hormead had their best spell early in the second half and had some good chances to make early inroads but once they failed to do the Royston adjusted their formation and went onto dominate the later stages of the game once again.

Mitchell Wooding thumped home another header from a corner at the far post and Matt Brennan headed home another corner from close range to complete his hat trick. Jordan Hall completed the scoring late on, racing clear of the Hormead defence and angling in a shot inside the far post.

Royston will play Sawbridgeworth Town in the final on Sunday 8th May at Buntingford Town FC, 2.30pm kick off
