County cup 2nd round this week and we welcomed Barmond from the Crow 3rd division we had to switch the game to the Heath after our original venue was waterlogged, and the pitch on the Heath was in excellent condition and with very little wind was perfect for football.

We wanted a reaction after the disappointment of last week as we all felt we did not do ourselves justice. We spoke honestly about things we needed to change and I hoped everyone had listened and taken on board what was said. We asked the boys to keep the ball on the floor and be positive with there decision making.

We looked a bit nervous to start with one or two passes going astray and in some cases players were trying to hard but as soon as Jack O scored our first goal after good work from Rhys and Sam everyone settled down. The goals came thick and fast Bradley set up Rhys for number two and soon after James R crossed for Callum to score number three with a diving header. Number four was Sam to Rhys and then number five was Rhys to Sam. James R then found Rhys for number six and the same player found Jack O for our seventh and then just on half time Bradley found Sam to finish the scoring for that half.

I was pleased with the passing and moving and the communication and decision making on the whole was excellent it was now a question of more of the same in the second half, all five subs came on and I needed them to make a statement as well.

Number nine came soon after the start of the second half when Ross found Sam,AJ found Rhys for number ten then Sam found Rhys for our eleventh, and the goals kept coming Sam got number twelve after a great run from Alasdair and Ross then played in Eamon for number thirteen, Sam scored again this time after a great pass from Richard, Freddie then set up Ross and Richard scored from long range to make it sixteen, James B then helped himself to a hatrick with the help of AJ, James R and Ross and that was the end of the game and we had won 19-0 and moved into round 3.

I have always questioned what you can get out of such a one sided game but there were lots of positives for me which were how clinical we were in front of goal and the quality of our passing and communication. We now have to take this on and produce this against teams from our own division, it was clear the Godmanchester result had affected the boys but hopefully now we can look forward.

They say football is a funny game last week I suffered my heaviest defeat in the seven years I have been running this team and a week later they give me a record score, well done boys.
