Sunday 18th February 2011

Elsenham Youth v Royston Town Youth Colts

Royston Crow Youth Football League U18 Division 1

Lost 4-1

Royston Scorers

Royston suffered their first league defeat in a very competitive game on Sunday. High unavailability, no recognisable goalkeeper and two early injuries meant the visitors were playing with literally ten players for the most part but they did take a lead within the first two minutes when Jake ran through to score. Possession of the ball was then even on a very poor pitch but Elsenham used it better and score three of their own goals before half time.
The second half saw Royston mostly dominate, encamped in the Elsenham half for long periods but they struggled to create clear chances as the hosts defended well and at times despearately. Jake again came closest to scoring when his 20 yard shot hit the crossbar. Against the run of play Elsenham completed the scoring from the penalty spot after a foul and a frustrating day for The Crows was compounded with the late sending off of Mitchell for a second yellow card.
