A game of two conflicting halves of football. Royston clearly struggled with the early kick off time and were completely off the pace in the first half. They conceded a goal after 15 minutes and were quite fortunate not to concede more as a majority of the side showed a complete lack of interest in trying to be at least competitive. Their best two chances just before half time both fell to Joe who raced clear but shot wide and a header from Mitchell's cross that came back into play off a post.
The second half was far better from the whole team as they showed much more urgency and quality in their play and were camped in and around the home penalty area for much of it. Unfortunately the finishing lacked the quality of some of the approach play and that combined with some good goalkeeping kept denied The Crows until mid way through the half. Ellis's corner was deflected goalwards with the off balanced keeper catching the ball but crossing the goal line in doing so.
Royston pressed for a winner and it arrived with 5 minutes remaining. Mitchell's long throw caused panic in the area and the ball richocted off a defender's shin before just crossing the line.
Hormead pressed late on and a fine block from Conor and a last minute goal line clearance from Dan denied them a share of the spoils in an eventful game
