This was possibly the best game of football seen at Garden Walk this season as both teams went all out attack to win a thoroughly entertaining game but Royston will feel they had enough chances to win the game despite some exceptional creativity on the evening.

The Crows started this game well and took an early ninth minute lead. Jack Bradshaw had pushed forward from full back and reacted to some hesitant defensive play to beat Carl Tasker with an angled drive. However the lead probably lasted approximately 20 seconds as the next Royston player to touch the ball was goalkeeper Luke Howard from the back of his net. Two passes from the right hand side an a chipped ball inside saw Lewis Pritchard send an unstoppable 35 yard half volley flying high into the net.

Not startled by this Royston continued to play the better football with Leverstock looking particularly dangerous on the break and more so from set plays with excellent free kick and corner deliveries giving the Royston defence some hard times. The hosts, though, re took the lead on 30 minutes when Ricky Young's perseverance to chase a seemingly lost cause saw him dispossess a centre half and square for Glen Lamacraft to slide home from eight yards.

Royston then had a crucial ten minute period that saw them create chances to extend their lead. Keeper Tasker made exceptional point blank saves to deny Lewis Endacott and Ricky Young with Endacott then having a really good chance beating the offside trap but blazing over the crossbar.

The misses proved costly as Levy equalised five minutes before half time as some poor marking from a corner allowed Louis Austin two bites at scoring which he took at the second time of asking from twelve yards.

Playing well but level at the break Royston needed to continue with good momentum which they did. Early in the half a fine move ended with Endacott striking firmly towards goal from 18 yards. Tasker made a good block with the ball bouncing up onto Ricky Young's head. With a seemingly open goal Young headed onto the crossbar with Lamacraft scoring from the follow up but being called offside.

More goals were sensed but the defences managed to hold firm until 15 minutes from the end when Levy took the lead from another set play. A long diagonal free kick was headed back across the face of goal for Craig Preston to head in from close range.

A quick formation and personnel change saw Ross Collins and Rhys Lawrence enter the frame and Royston contrived to lay a complete siege on the Green goal for the remaining time. Tasker made stunning saves from Ryan Lockett and Ross Collins but Royston were deservedly rewarded for their pressing in the 82nd minute. Lockett's corner floating to Martin Standen on the edge of the box who controlled and half volleyed powerfully into the roof of the net.

Somehow Royston managed in the remaining time to hit the crossbar on three more occasions with Lamacraft, Lawrence and Lockett all hitting the frame but Levy could have nicked it late also when a fine counter attacking move ended with a frantic scramble and Ashley Grinham clearing superbly off the line but this would have been excessively harsh on The Crows who deserved at least a point from the game
