A Crazy Game

Football never ceases to amaze us all I’m sure.

Never has a case been so pronounced than today at Gosport where us “Crows” grabbed all 3 points at the very end in a match where not many of our lads came out with much credit but the all important points were taken.

We started initially very well and could and should have been 1 or 2-0 up. Bad finishing. Several other opportunities went begging, then as with this crazy game. Gosport had one chance and we found ourselves 1-0 down!

We got ourselves back on level terms reasonably quickly. Some good work by Sam Ives and Josh Castiglione made it 1-1.

After that it seemed we could go on to get 3 points but yet again football being football an incident that I didn’t see but have no complaints over, saw Sam Corcoran sent off with 5 mins of the first half still to play!!

We got the lads in and reorganised the formation.

Second half and we went ahead by a set play finished off by Dan Brathwaite. To hold on and get the win would be a great achievement although our opposition weren’t the best.

They equalised with a superb strike that Joe had no chance of stopping.

The odds were that a draw was the most likely outcome but our resilience that we often showed last year come to the fore and Ryan Ingrey was on hand to snatch the 3 points that we were ecstatic on getting.

To reflect, 6 points from 9 is a good start in a league higher but to get it and not really perform like these talented lads can is hopefully a good sign.

A free week to train twice before our next match. Organisation and hard work is the emphasis to keep ourselves in the top half!!

Cheers,
SC
