Steve Castle on Bedworth & Northwood

Hello Everyone.

Making contact with you after an extremely up and down week!

A really good result against Rugby which I've already spoken about. Probably going into the midweek fixture against Bedworth we were full of confidence but in hindsight probably overconfident. We went away from our high work ethic and thought the win was ours automatically!! Of course we got turned over! A big wake up call for us all!!

We still had chances to get ourselves in front. and even when we went behind to a penalty, we kept pushing and got the equaliser before half time. Into the second half and where we had got ourselves back into it, I felt we got too complacent just thinking the victory was ours! Some slack defending and we were behind again this time no equaliser. A harsh lesson for us but one we have to learn from quickly!

So into yesterday's game against Northwood. No changes to the team but I told the subs they were unlucky not to be involved! My take on it was that a good team doesn't become a bad one over one game. We started reasonably brightly. Our front two in Lockie and Gary Hart combining well with the midfield! Several chances were created, Ryan scoring one, several missed opportunities also. I think we should have gone in at half time more than one goal up.For some strange reason we weren't at the races in the second half and we let a very poor Northwood team take a hold in a game they should have been out of.

We did have a few chances but Northwood got themselves the leveller midway through. A draw looked the most likely outcome when deep into added time a chance fell to the feet of our player/assistant manager, Chris Watters and he excellently drove the ball home from just inside the box. A 'get out of Jail' card was needed for us but pleased all the same.

There were a few injuries at the end, with Gary Hart, Ryan Ingrey, Ryan Wharton & Lewis Endacott all picking up niggles – hopefully that's all they are! On to next Tuesday's game, the lads have been set a target of 11 points from the first five games. Two more wins and they reach it!!

Cheers,

SC
