TOM’S WEEKEND PREVIEW: Feb 24th & 25th

Hi and welcome to this weekend preview with Royston Town FC, Royston Town Women and Royston Town U23’s.

First up, Royston Town FC travel to take on Halesowen Town FC in the Southern  League Premier Central, kick-off 3 pm. Halesowen sit one place below us in the table. Royston Town will be looking to get another three points after an impressive display against Mickleover last Saturday while Halesowen Town will be looking to get back to winning ways after a draw against Suffolk Side AFC Sudbury and a loss at another Suffolk Side in Leiston on Tuesday Night. Halesowen’s Town nickname is the Yeltz and there are a few theories about where the nickname originated. The most popular theory is Halesowen was called Hales Owen, Hales and Halas is an Accent regional dialect that people from the Black Country said Y instead of H so it it was called Yalas which changed to Yeltz. The Club Crest is from St John’s Baptist Church and should be visible from the ground.

Last Sunday’s game against them was called off due to the weather so hopefully the game goes ahead this time round.
