A Very Good Day

A very satisfying game today with the “Crows” coming out on top of a fiercely fought contest up at Rushall Olympic by 3 goals to nil!

Our players were fantastic, to a player they all contributed to the victory. An amazing achievement for a squad deprived of at least seven 1st team lads for various reasons.

It wasn’t ideal preparation when your main centre forward goes down with an injury, your two loan signings are both injured and you still have others unavailable for different reasons.

As said though the players that were here performed at a great level and thoroughly deserved the convincing win.

Special mention to Harry Smart, a lad who has come to us a goalkeeping coach but because of injuries has played several pre-season matches and when our loan signing from Stevenage Will Appleyard couldn’t play we gave “H” his chance to play and boy he did well.

Great distribution and a fabulous double save when the score was 0-0

Spyros Mentis who up to a week ago was finishing off his Cypriot National Service and hasn’t played a competitive game since April slotted into a back four and played excellently in a position he’s never played in!

And lastly special praise for Vance Bola, Vance has had a nagging knee injury that has pestered him over recent weeks but that said he played in his preferred role and scored himself two goals that he really deserved.

All in all a very good day. I don’t want any of the other lads feeling “Left out” because it was a total team performance but hopefully they will appreciate the circumstances that I singled it these three players!

So now we have our first win it’s important to get into a groove and stay there. A home game on Monday against our near neighbours in St Ives. They have started well so a tough match is to be had.

Personally, looking forward to it!!

Cheers,
SC
