Eighth placed Royston Town took on third-placed Tamworth in this fragmented but competitive encounter with the visitors coming out on top converting their only real two chances in the game but overall showing good strength and control of the match.

The Crows created more opportunities throughout but were void of finesse in front of goal when their rare scoring chances were created. The scoring was opened by Tamworth in the 17th minute when Tyrell Waite cashed in on some indecisive defending following an enforced defensive substitution and tucked the ball away low into the bottom left of the net.

Royston responded well and had a much better spell of football and got their just rewards following a period of spoiling fouls by the Lambs and following a particularly high tackle on Luke Knight, for which Joseph Magunda was fortunate to only see yellow. Scott Bridges stepped up on 35 minutes and struck the resulting free-kick into a dishevelled wall and the defection eluded Jasbir Singh in the visitor’s goal. The scores were level at the break.

The second half saw the Crows extremely slow to start again and it took until the 56th minute for the home side to create half a chance with Bridges putting in a low cross from the right and substitute Josh Castiglione’s diving header hit the post. The Lambs scored the winning goal on the hour mark, following a Royston double substitution and slow reorganisation, and following a long throw into the box Aaron Forde struck from close range to take the precious three points back to Tamworth.
