ROYSTON TOWN FC v BROMSGROVE SPORTING FC
Saturday 4th December 2021
Royston Town and Bromsgrove Sporting fought out a dour goalless draw on a cold afternoon at Garden Walk, with the lack of action doing little to warm the supporters of both sides.
The first chance of the match fell to Crows’ debutant Bruno Tavares whose close-range effort was deflected past the post by Aaron Clayton in the Rousers goal. The resultant corner eventually found its way to Ronnie Henry, who was unlucky to see his controlled left-footed volley rebound off the crossbar.
Royston continued to look the more threatening and were again thwarted by the woodwork in the 38th minute. A fierce Brandon Adams drive was blocked, diverting into the path of home skipper Adam Murray, who saw his effort rebound off the bottom of the post and away to safety.
Bromsgrove struggled to gain any territory, and their only noteworthy effort of the half saw Dimitris Kyriatzis in the home goal comfortably collect a well-struck Jamie Molineaux effort, which was directed straight at him.
The second half got no better, as defences were firmly on top, meaning chances were few and far between. Bromsgrove thought they had scored when Connor Taylor turned in a Joseph Willis shot, but the linesman cut short the celebrations. The best chance for Royston fell to Adams, who after latching onto Murray’s flick, was unable to beat Clayton, who saved his shot and left both teams having to settle for a point.
